Someone asks the team who's free next week. The replies come in over two days, in no order, some as voice notes. Somebody types them into a spreadsheet, builds the rota around them, and sends a photo of it back to the group. Then three people can't make their shift and the whole thing happens again on Thursday.
StaffSteady keeps that shape and takes out the retyping. Staff answer on their phones, the answers arrive as a grid, and the rota builds from it.

Most rota tools assume one site. If you run more than one, the same bartender ends up on two rotas, and nobody notices they're down for 51 hours until payroll.
StaffSteady treats contracted hours as belonging to the person, not the venue. Roster someone across sites and every venue's planner sees what they already owe elsewhere that week. They can swap a shift with someone at another venue, and both rotas update together or neither does. Time off shows on every site they work, so the manager approving it can see who else is already away.
This is the part that is genuinely hard to build, and we built it in from the start rather than bolting it on afterwards.

Built for Irish venues, not adapted for them
Break entitlements are in the rota, not in a policy document. A shift of four and a half to six hours gets fifteen minutes; over six hours gets thirty. Breaks are staggered across each service so the floor is never empty.
Bank holidays are worked out for you, Easter included, and flagged as the busy days they usually are.
GDPR is handled properly. PPS numbers and salaries are encrypted at rest. Every view and change of an employee record is written to an audit log that cannot be edited or deleted. An employee can export everything you hold on them, and you can erase it while keeping the employment history you're legally required to retain.
Twenty days' annual leave is the default entitlement, tracked per person, with half days.
Who it's for
Pubs, restaurants and delis in Ireland — one site or a group. It suits you best if you have more than about ten staff, more than one service a day, or more than one venue. If you're a five-person café with a fixed rota, you don't need this.
